1991 Part 2- Terminator 2, The Rocketeer, Until the End of the World, Naked Lunch and Bill and Ted

The number one movie of 1991 was Terminator 2 . Arnold Schwarzenegger was still the king of Hollywood. Terminator 2 is basically the same story as the first Terminator, but updated for the 90's. Robots were no longer clunky. They were now liquid and could shapeshift. Terminators can be influenced by the innocence of a child. No longer were they only killers but could be protectors. This movie was less gory and less like a sci-fi horror film but more of an action thriller with a bit of humor. Nuclear war wasn't necessarily in our future. We had hope that we could change the future. This movie was number one not only because of the awesome CGI effecrs, but because of the positive message of hope.       Terminator 2 wasn't the only science fiction movie to come out that year. The Rocketeer, a fun "diesel punk" science fiction movie came out. Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey brought a bit of light surrealism when evil robot clones of Bill and Ted...

Why Do I Hate Watch Star Trek Picard?

Image
What happened to 7 of 9?        There is a divide in Star Trek fandom between those who hate the new Star Trek shows and those who hate them. Those who love the new Star Trek can't understand why some who hate the new shows continue to watch the new shows and complain about them. I hope this post will help.        1.I want to keep up with the lore. Star Trek has a deep and rich history and lore that has developed over 50 years. I have kept up for over 40 years and want to continue to know what the writers have planned to add on to the Star Trek universe. That is why many who quit Discovery kept pushing themselves to watch Star Trek Picard. Discovery doesn't add much to the universe as it is a prequel. What it does add doesn't make much sense like Spock having Vulcan dyslexia and having a secret half sister. Picard takes places after beloved Deep Space Nine and Voyager and we want to know what happened with the Federation after...

Sci-fi Movies of 1992

Image
Welcome to 1992! This was the year of Hurricane Andrew, NAFTA, Ross Perot, The Earth Summit, and The LA Riots. Aladdin was the number one movie of the year. There were no science fiction films on the list of highest grossing films of that year. It was also the 50th anniversary of Captain America.   Alien 3 (Sci-fi Horror Aliens) This movie undoes the movie Aliens and has a very depressing beginning. Ripley thinks she is the only survivor when her escape pod crashes onto a penal colony planet full of only men. She isn't because she unknowingly brought an alien with her who causes havoc on the planet. I only liked it because of Charles Dance. The setting of the penal colony was also interesting.  Bad Channels (Sci-fi Comedy Aliens) This looks like a crappy direct to video movie about aliens using a radio station to lure women to them to star in music videos and then they shrink them into tubes. A DJ tries to stop them but no one believes in. Martha Quin...
